The Elite Ladies of Fairfield County School District, a mentoring initiative for young ladies in grades 7 – 12, held their second annual “Pearls of Excellence” Cotillion Ball on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 6 pm at Fairfield Central High School. This year’s cotillion presented fifteen Pearls of Excellence:

  • Alexis Broom – Beau Chandler Berry
  • Samantha Chaplin – Beau Jacquez Brown
  • Karis Davis – Beau Audwin Davis-Armstrong
  • Nikayla Douglas – Beau Prentice Douglas
  • Martha Gibson – Beau Ty’Quan Gladney
  • Alexius Henry – Beau Bryant Seibles
  • Tiara Johnson – Beau Marcellus Harrison
  • Amaria Mickle – Beau Darius Free
  • Zenia Mobley – Beau JaVan Scott
  • Aniya Ruff – Beau De’Michael Davis
  • Shequettia’s Ruff – Beau Lamar Richards
  • Sierra-Bryanna Worthy – Beau Jaheim Brown
  • Sereniti Younger – Beau Mykel Beaufort

The Mistress of Ceremony was Mrs. Denise Clark and special guest speaker for this event was Bishop Sheldon Hudson of Destiny’s Daughters Finishing School and Across All Boundaries Ministries. This year’s Cotillion awarded its first scholarship award for the Senior participant that raised the most amount in ads and sponsorships. The Cotillion also boasted its first Oratorical Contest centered around the question: Are mentoring initiatives, such as the Elite Ladies program, needed? Why did you choose to become an Elite Lady? What is an Elite Lady?

Senior, Miss LaDeja Bell was the winner of the Oratorical Contest and eighth grader, Miss Aniya Ruff (1st runner up) and sophomore Miss Zenia Mobley (2nd runner up). Sophomore, Miss Zenia Mobley was crowned Miss Cogeniality.

Senior, Miss Shequettia’s Ruff was the crowned Miss Senior Cotillion Ball and was the recipient of a $750 scholarship award.

Freshman Miss Martha Gibson was crowned Miss Cotillion 2017 and her attendants was seventh grader Miss Sierra-Bryanna Worthy (1st runner-up) and Junior Miss Alexis Broom (2nd runner up) completed the 2017 Cotillion Court.
