EveryBlackGirl, Inc Youth Conference

Columbia, SC – EveryBlackGirl, Inc (EBG), will host a youth conference, The State of Black Girls: What’s Really at Stake?   The conference will address issues impacting Black girls and provide workshops for girls, boys and adults on how they can stand for Black girls, celebrate the dropped charges of Niya and Shakara and generate actions of how we can mobilize to end criminalization of Black girls in SC.

“As we begin another school year we must stay diligent in bringing awareness to the issue of School Push Out as an egregious abuse of power that continues to push our girls of color out of school,” responded Vivian Anderson, executive director of EveryBlackGirl, as she invited community members to join EBG in creating support for Every Black Girl.

Attorney for Niya and Shakara, Todd Rutherford and the Rutherford Law Firm will be honored for his diligence in ensuring that the charges that Niya and Shakara faced were dropped.  He was one of the first responders in standing up for Every Black Girl.

Sponsors of the EveryBlackGirl, Inc Youth Conference include, Black Lives Matter NYC, Southern Partners Fund, Ms Foundation for Women, RESIST, Urgent Action Fund, and African American Policy Forum.  Local supporters include organizations and businesses such as; Columbia Parks & Recreation, My House Restaurant and Lounge, Banco Bannister Company  and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
