Groundbreaking Ceremony Planned for New Richland Library Location

WHO: The event is free & open to the public.

WHY: Richland Library has been exploring ways to bring enhanced
services to the Edgewood community for several years. Thanks
to tremendous support from residents and partners, like the
Columbia Housing Authority, we’re thrilled to be converting
an old Dollar General building into a new library, marking
our 12th location.


Join Richland Library at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 14 at the Edgewood construction site (2101 Oak Street) for a groundbreaking ceremony with our staff, local officials and members of the community. It marks the start of construction on the nearly 7,500 square-foot structure, located near the Drew Wellness and Cecil Tillis Centers. The more than $2 million project includes a meeting space and makerspace to bring in innovative partnerships and resources surrounding career growth, engaging children’s room, and expanded outdoor area with a front porch.
