S.C. Legislative Black Caucus names new director

(SC, State House) – The South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus (SCLBC) announced that LaJoia M. Broughton has joined the caucus as its executive director.  Broughton comes with a strong background in marketing, community outreach, and new business development.

Broughton comments “I am honored to join the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus and look forward to working with the legislators in their pursuit of making meaningful differences in the lives of South Carolina citizens and ensuring an equal voice in public policy for the black community.”

Rep. John King, D-York, SCLBC Chairman, said “We are delighted to have LaJoia join the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus. She has a breadth of perspective and experience that will prove valuable to our aggressive legislative agenda.”

Broughton earned her Master in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina and her B.A. in Communication Studies from Furman University.
