Deniece Williams Live + Special Guests In Hopkins, SC – Friday, October 6, 2017 from 7 PM – 10 PM at 116 Barberville Loop, at Lower Richland Boulevard. Hopkins, SC. The ever popular 15th ANNUAL SWAMPFEST AT THE CONGAREE 2017 is a two-day fall event and a unique opportunity to celebrate the nature, the people, and the rich heritage of Lower Richland County. People from all over travel to this event. Friday night’s event is the BBQ, BLUES, & JAZZ CONCERT. This is an outside event but it is tented and covered. RV Clubs also arrive from across the states. Each year this event is packed to capacity, we hope to see you this year!

The Ticket price for this fundraiser includes admission, entertainment, and food. Tickets are $30.00 which are available online, at the Gate (Day of Concert) or PAPA JAZZ RECORD SHOPPE, 2014 GREENE STREET (5 Points), Columbia, SC 29205. Although table seating is available you are also welcomed to bring lawn chairs and coolers. A cash bar is offered for beer, wine and soda; we strongly encourage guests to drink responsibly.  All proceeds benefit SERCO’s educational component.


Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence – Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 9 AM – 12 PM at City of Columbia Government
Columbia, South Carolina 29201. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Columbia City Mayor Steve Benjamin and Mayor Pro Tem Tameika Isaac Devine are again spearheading the City’s efforts to raise awareness of the abuse and violence that is taking place behind closed doors. For the 11th year, the City is hosting the walk through downtown streets to shed light on a significant ill in our society.

The walk will be held on Saturday, October 7 at the Vista Greenway Extension at Finlay Park.  The Purple Rally begins at 9 a.m. and the walk steps off at 10 a.m. There is no cost to participate, but we do ask you to register here. If you provide direct services to victims and their families and would like to participate as an exhibitor, complete this form.  For more information, contact the Public and Media Relations Office at 803-545-3020 or email us.

Fire Prevention Week Kick Off – Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10 AM – 1 PM at Fort Jackson Fire Department, 5499 Jackson Blvd, Columbia, South Carolina 29207. Kick off Fire Prevention Week with Fire StationTours, Smoke House Safety Trailer, music by 282nd Army Rock Band, rock wall, bounce house, tug of war, games and more.
