(Columbia, SC) – On Saturday, May 13, The Therapy Place, Inc. will host the Miracles in Motion 5K: Walk, Run & Roll Superheroes Edition, presented by The City of Forest Acres. Participants will enjoy a morning run, walk, or roll starting at the Covenant Road location, while experiencing the positivity and impact The Therapy Place, Inc. has in our community. Funds raised from this event provide financial assistance to families for their children to receive life-changing therapies and services at The Therapy Place. The Therapy Place offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies for Midland’s children with special needs, a one-of-a-kind therapeutic preschool and family support services.

The morning will kick off with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. featuring a Heroes Race (mini race) for the children of The Therapy Place. Guests can grab a front-row seat to cheer on the children of The Therapy Place as they compete in their own mini race showing that there are zero barriers with the support of friends, families and our community.

“The Heroes Race was a huge hit last year and brought so many smiles to the children of The Therapy Place who cannot participate in the 5k.” Says Dawn Darby, owner of The Therapy Place. “It’s so important that our 5K fundraiser also includes a way for our children to participate and have fun.”

After the Heroes Race, opening ceremonies will featuring AC Flora’s JROTC and special guests Brian McConchie, news anchor and managing editor at WACH FOX News, Speed for Need and special guests from the City of Forest Acres.  Immediately following, the 5K will start at 9 a.m. The 1 Mile Walk will follow the 5K.

After the race, The Therapy Place will also host a family-friendly festival at their location on Covenant Road. All participants who are registered for the Miracles in Motion 5K event will receive one complimentary wristband to receive food and beverages at the festival. Wristbands can also be purchased online for non-participants. The festival will feature BBQ sandwiches provided by Southeastern Insurance Consultants, Peak Drift Brewing Company beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, special entertainment by Quarter Til Wednesday and bands from Freeway Music, bounce houses, The Therapy Place adaptive playground and other child-friendly activities.

“We are so excited to host this run/walk experience for the community for the 4th year” says Darby. “The proceeds allow us to continue to invest into the crucial equipment, staff and training that allows us to provide the kind of therapeutic care that our children need. Our gratitude for those who support us through this fundraiser is endless.”
