The City of Columbia Homeless Services and City of Columbia Community Development are partnering to host a one-day donation drive to assist individuals experiencing homelessness in the community.
The initiative is focused on collecting essential items such as hygiene products, household goods, and everyday necessities. Donations will directly support unsheltered residents as well as operations connected to Rapid Shelter Columbia.

The donation drive will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Donations can be dropped off at 1505 Taylor Street in Columbia.
Community members, local businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate by contributing items that can help meet immediate needs and improve daily living conditions for individuals working toward housing stability.
Most Needed Items
Organizers have identified several high-priority needs, including cleaning supplies, hygiene products, pots and pans, and bedding items.
Kitchen Essentials
Donations of kitchen items are needed, including pots and pans, cooking utensils such as spatulas, spoons, and ladles, as well as plates, bowls, cups, and drinking glasses. Additional items include coffee mugs, silverware sets, can openers, dish drying racks, food storage containers, and kitchen towels.
Household Supplies
Household items being requested include laundry baskets, trash cans, brooms and dustpans, mops and buckets, storage bins, hangers, shower curtains and liners, and bath mats.
Cleaning Supplies
Cleaning products in demand include all-purpose cleaners, dish soap, sponges and scrub pads, paper towels, laundry detergent, disinfecting wipes, bathroom cleaner, and garbage bags.
Personal Hygiene Items
Personal care items needed include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap or body wash, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, lotion, razors, feminine hygiene products, and combs and brushes.
Bedding and Comfort Items
Bedding items such as twin or full sheet sets, blankets, pillows, towels, and washcloths are also being collected.
Additional Helpful Items
Additional items that can support individuals transitioning into stable living environments include alarm clocks, reusable water bottles, small kitchen appliances such as toasters and coffee makers, basic tool kits, and flashlights.
