This year’s Awards Gala carries deep significance as it is dedicated to the memory of the late Senator John L. Scott, Jr. Senator Scott, a distinguished life member of our branch, was an unwavering champion of civil rights and devoted his life to tirelessly advocating for the cause.
We are privileged to welcome the esteemed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary, Marcia L. Fudge, as our keynote speaker. Secretary Fudge brings a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to this year’s Awards Gala.
The Freedom Fund Awards Gala serves a noble purpose by raising funds to sustain the ongoing battle for civil rights within our community. Over the past few years, our branch has experienced remarkable
growth in membership, thanks to our impactful contributions. Notable initiatives include the Columbia, SC Branch Housing Navigators program, which provided crucial assistance to individuals facing eviction during the pandemic by connecting them with alternative resources. Additionally, we have hosted forums on gun violence that brought community leaders together to engage in vital discussions and propose solutions, working in collaboration with community members. These are just a few examples of the invaluable services offered by the Columbia, SC branch.
The Freedom Fund Awards Gala presents a unique opportunity for everyone to contribute further to our mission and continue our vital work in the fight for justice.
