(Columbia, SC) — Columbia native and award-winning actress Arischa Conner is inviting the Midlands community to celebrate a major career milestone — her first appearance in a theatrical film release. Conner appears in Undercard, an independent feature film co-written and directed by Tamika Miller and co-written with Anita M. Cal.
The film stars Bentley Green (61st Street), William Stanford Davis (Abbott Elementary), and Emmy-winning comedian and actress Wanda Sykes.
Undercard opens in limited theatrical release on February 27 and will be showing at Spotlight Cinemas Capital 8. The film is distributed by Catalyst Studios.
As an independent film, opening weekend attendance will play a critical role in determining how long the film remains in theaters.
“For me, this is a chance for us to celebrate one of our own — a South Carolina actor,” Conner says. “Seeing myself on the big screen in a theater is something I’ve dreamed about for years. Independent films rely on community support. When we show up, we create space for more stories like this.”
Conner has built a respected and diverse career across television, film, and audiobook narration. She is known for her performance in the Emmy Award-winning Hulu series Dopesick alongside Michael Keaton, as well as roles in Swagger (Apple TV+), The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (Apple TV+), All American (The CW/Netflix), Mike (Hulu), BMF (STARZ), and The Resident (FOX/Netflix).
In addition to her screen work, Conner has narrated more than 100 audiobooks and is a Benjamin Franklin Award winner and Audie Award nominee for excellence in narration.
