Recently, Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas has been the subject of a wave of criticism online.
Some social media users have been asking for his resignation or to be removed from the nation’s highest court. Others have been demanding his removal from the Supreme Court following a recent decision in which he was the lone dissenting vote in former President Donald Trump’s bid to keep certain documents from the House of Representatives’ Select Committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021.
In an 8-1 decision, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that the former president could not invoke executive privilege to protect the documents sought by the select committee. It’s worth mentioning that all three Trump-appointed judges also ruled against him.
Thomas was the only dissenting vote in a case involving former President Donald Trump and the House Select Committee investigating January 6th.
Thomas is the longest-serving member of the Court and the longest-serving judge among the Tories, except for Chief Justice John Roberts.
