This weekend, I took a trip to Spotlight Cinemas Capital 8 in Columbia, South Carolina, to participate in the Freedom Festival International. Among the standout films previewed at the festival was “Diaries of the Miller Family Part 2,” a short film that is the second installment in a series with several more chapters planned. This compelling movie, written by James Addai and directed by Johnny B Good, also known as J-Juice, aims to break away from the often-violent narratives that are frequently portrayed as part of Black culture. Addai’s goal with this film was to tell a story of a Black family that focuses on love, unity, and success, offering a refreshing and positive perspective on Black family life.
The Multi-talented Director
J-Juice, a multi-talented artist, brought his unique blend of creativity and vision to the project, directing the film with a passion that was evident in every scene. His journey to directing “Diaries of the Miller Family Part 2” is as interesting as the film itself. Earlene had the crowd in stitches, kept everyone on their toes, and made sure the show ran smoother than butter on hot cornbread.
She didn’t just keep the event flowing; she made it an experience to remember. From getting everyone hyped on the red carpet to moonlighting as a backup dancer at the after-party, Earlene was everywhere, doing everything. Honestly, she had more energy than a two-year-old who’s just eaten three cupcakes and drunk a 16-ounce bottle of Coca-Cola!
