(Blythewood, SC) – Mayor Sloan J. Griffin III is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Tiffany T. D. Cooks as the Deputy Town Administrator for the Town of Blythewood, SC. Dr. Cooks will officially begin her new role on January 13, 2025, bringing with her over 27 years of experience in public safety, local government, and emergency management, as well as an exceptional record of academic and professional achievements.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Dr. Cooks has spent nearly three decades serving Southern communities in various capacities. Her impressive career includes roles as a Police Officer, Emergency Management/E-911 Director, and County Supervisor. She also served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army for nine years, earning recognition for her leadership and crisis management skills. Most recently, Dr. Cooks served as the Town Administrator for the Town of Estill, SC, where she spearheaded transformative projects, including the $250 million “Project Green Spark,” aimed at economic and community development.
Dr. Cooks is a lifelong learner and accomplished scholar. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership from Ashford University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy focusing on Applied Management and Decision Science from Walden University. Additionally, she is a published author of Factors Affecting First Responders, Emergency Managers, and Citizen Emergency Response, reflecting her deep commitment to improving public safety practices.
In 2019, Dr. Cooks made history as South Carolina’s first African American female County Supervisor. During her tenure, she championed public safety reforms and initiated significant economic development programs. Her career has been defined by a steadfast commitment to service, innovative leadership, and a dedication to building strong and resilient communities.
