NORTH COLUMBIA: The Eau Claire Community Council and Keep the Midlands Beautiful are joining together to host the Great North Columbia Cleanup on Saturday, April 19th. Eau Claire residents, neighborhood associations, area businesses and volunteers will gather to prepare the community for visitors from throughout the Midlands who will join us for Eau Claire Fest 2014 on Saturday, April 26. The clean up will begin at 10:00 A.M. in Hyatt Park and surrounding Eau Claire neighborhoods.
Although the festival takes place in the Eau Claire Town Center (North Main Street at Monticello Road, Hyatt Park and surrounding streets) the clean up will involve all neighborhoods in the Eau Claire Community. Neighbors will be sprucing up for the event beginning at 8:00 A.M. with the Eau Claire 5K Fun Run and Walk through Hyatt Park Keenan Terrace, Byrneswood, and Ridgewood Barony neighborhoods; and the 11:00 A.M. Fonky Fest Parade which starts at the corner of N. Main and Sunset and travels into the heart of the festival site.
The community clean up day will be a part of the Great American Clean Up supported by Keep the Midlands Beautiful. The mission of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is to engage, inspire and educate the Midlands to invest in community through litter prevention, recycling and beautification.
The hope of the Eau Claire Community Council is that the Great North Columbia Cleanup will not only bring the community together to prepare for the festival, but to take pride in our beautiful neighborhoods and encourage neighbors to continue the initiative throughout the year.
