Free Rides on the COMET

The COMET continues to build relationships with businesses, colleges, universities and schools to encourage people to fight congestion and use The COMET to go anywhere in Richland and Lexington Counties.   Effective immediately, students, employees and faculty of Columbia College, students, employees, faculty and alumni of Allen University and employees of Lexington Medical Center can ride The COMET, unrestricted for free by simply showing an ID card from those approved businesses and organizations.

These partnership bring in replacement revenue that can be used to match Federal grants, provides an opportunity to increase ridership among The COMET’s 34 fixed routes and four ReFlex services and encourages people to give public transportation a try, regardless, if its for commuting purposes or for leisure or ad-hoc basis use.

In addition, The COMET continues its partnership with McEntire Produce, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Prisma Health,  Richland 1, Richland 2 and Lexington/Richland 5 by allowing its students, employees and facility free rides on The COMET unrestricted by showing their ID card to the bus operator.
