Free seminar on DOT certification, government contracts on tap

South Carolina Small Business Development Centers will hold a free seminar on Feb. 24 for those interested in transportation department certification and federal government contracts.

The event, held in partnership with the University of South Carolina, will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the fourth floor conference room at the Columbia SBDC office at 1225 Laurel Street.

The SCDOT will cover the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certification process, while the Small Business Association’s Michael Corp – a business opportunity specialist – will cover a host of topics, ranging from woman- and service disabled veteran-owned small businesses to the 8(a) Program for socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses.

Corp will also cover registering in the System for Awards Management to be eligible for federal contracts and Historically Underutilized Business zones.
