(Columbia, SC) – The Iota Omicron Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation, is proud to announce its annual Youth Symposium on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Kathrine M. Bellfield Booker Washington Heights Cultural Arts Center, located at 2611 Grant Street, Columbia, SC 29203.
This year’s symposium will focus on elevating youth through the arts, inspiring 6th through 12th graders (ages 12–18) with engaging, hands-on experiences in culinary arts, dance, and live performances. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., providing a dynamic platform for young participants to explore artistic expression and creativity in a supportive and enriching environment.
Event Highlights:
- Culinary Arts: A professional chef will lead an interactive cooking demonstration, equipping youth with essential culinary skills and knowledge.
- Dance: Participants will engage in interactive dance sessions led by professional dancers, learning various dance styles and using movement as a form of self-expression.
- Performances: Local musicians, dancers, and spoken word artists will take the stage to inspire and entertain, showcasing the power of the arts in storytelling and cultural expression.
