Karen R. Jenkins recognized as the South Carolina Female Small Business Person of the Year

Columbia entrepreneur and resident Karen R. Jenkins has been named South Carolina Female Small Business Person of the Year by the United States Small Business Administration South Carolina District Office. Founder and President of KRJ Consulting, LLC, Mrs. Jenkins was recognized, along with the other winners, during the Small Business Salute to Small Business on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

“Our goal is to honor and recognize our winners for their hard work and dedication to advancing the small business community,” said Gregg White, District Director for the SBA South Carolina District Office.

“I am humbled and honored to receive this award,” Jenkins shared, noting that despite the challenges of starting and expanding her company, “patience and perseverance helped us weather the storm.” Her tenacity has grown the company from an initial contract with Family Services to serving local and Federal government, including the City of Columbia, U.S. Department of the Army, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Salute to Small Business is a National Small Business Week event organized by the SBA South Carolina District Office, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, South Carolina Research Authority, Small Business Development Center, and the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
