Meet Courageous Pen: Our Editorial Review Board

“Critiquing with courage, guiding with clarity.”

Every great movie has its critics. Every bestselling book has its reviewers. And now, the Minority INFO Network has its own in-house team of critics dedicated to shining a light on the quality of our journalism: Courageous Pen.

Courageous Pen is the Minority INFO Network’s Editorial Review Board, but it doesn’t operate like the traditional boards you may be familiar with. Instead of working quietly behind the scenes, Courageous Pen takes a public-facing role — reading and reviewing articles published across our network, then offering commentary, critique, and recognition that readers can see.

We believe that transparency is the highest form of credibility — and that begins with reviewing ourselves.

Courageous Pen

Think of it as our very own “critics’ corner.” When a story is exceptional, Courageous Pen highlights it. When an article misses the mark, they’ll say so. This process is part quality control, part commentary, and all about holding ourselves accountable to the highest standards of journalism.

For readers, that means more transparency, more trust, and a guide to the stories that matter most. For our journalists, it means knowing that every piece of work we publish will be evaluated not only by our audience, but by a respected in-house body dedicated to elevating quality.

We shine a light on the best — and the rest.

Courageous Pen

So as you read through the Minority INFO Network’s publications, keep an eye out for the voice of Courageous Pen. It’s more than just an editorial board — it’s our promise to you that we take our journalism seriously enough to critique ourselves, publicly, for your benefit.

Courageous Pen is the Minority INFO Network’s Editorial Review Board. Unlike a traditional editorial board that quietly oversees content before publication, Courageous Pen is a public-facing panel of in-house critics dedicated to reviewing and commenting on the work published across our network. Its role is part quality control and part commentary, serving as our own critics’ corner. The board evaluates articles written by our reporters and contributors, highlighting pieces of exceptional merit, offering constructive critique when work misses the mark, and providing honest assessments for our readers.
