The Greater Farrow Road Foundation in partnership with Midlands churches and community partners has organized a Gun Buyback Program. The Midlands Gun Buyback program will reward the voluntary surrender of firearms while engaging our community toward a common goal of reducing gun violence. It is an anonymous process in which individuals can surrender their weapons, no questions asked. The three-day event will be June 20 – 21, 2022 from 4 pm – 7 pm at the M.L. Smith Community Center, 5213 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203. Free food will be provided to all individuals and their families.

Weapons brought to the event should be unloaded and transported in the trunk or rear area of the vehicle. Persons will be given a $100 per handgun (for up to 3) and $250 per assault rifle (as classified by the State of South Carolina). Once a firearm is surrendered to the Gun Buyback Program, it becomes property of the Richland County or City of Columbia Police Department and will not be returned. Guns will be taken into property at the police department and scheduled for destruction. For those that plan on participating please follow the signage that will direct you to the correct area to drive to.
In addition to the gun buyback The Richland County Solicitors Office will be onsite for individuals seeking to have their criminal records expunged. Persons will deal directly with representatives from Solicitor’s Office who will assist them the expungement process and ensure that each application is legally sufficient before it is submitted for a judge’s signature.
