(Columbia, SC) — Books may be what first comes to mind when you think of a library card, but at Richland Library, there’s much more to check out. This September, Library Card Sign-Up Month is an opportunity to discover all that a Richland Library card can unlock.
With a Richland Library card, customers can:
- Borrow books and more from Richland Library’s collection, place holds, and pick them up at any of Richland Library’s 13 locations.
- Access eBooks, eAudiobooks, and magazines through Libby and hoopla.
- Explore the Library of Things and borrow items for creative projects, home projects, outdoor activities, and more.
- Choose from hundreds of free events each month for all ages, including storytimes, workshops, performances, and author events.
- Reserve study and meeting rooms for individual work, collaboration, or group gatherings.
- Print from a personal device at any library location, with the first 10 pages free.
- Create and learn in The Studios, with access to spaces for making, fabrication, fiber arts, audio and video production, and more.
- Access career support through the Business and Careers Center, including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and opportunities to connect with a Career Coach.
Library cards are free for Richland County residents and property owners. Non-residents can sign up for a library card for $65 a year. Education Cards are available, regardless of residential address, to K-12 teachers and daycare providers employed in Richland County, as well as college students enrolled in Richland County educational institutions.
Customers can register online or visit any Richland Library location to get a library card. Online registrants can access electronic resources before picking up their physical card at a library location.
