(Columbia, SC) — The award-winning Queens Underground International Film Festival, a nonprofit arts organization originally founded in Jamaica, Queens, NY, is making its highly anticipated Southern debut at the South Carolina State Museum on Friday and Saturday, October 10–11, 2025, from noon to 8 p.m.
Since its inception, Queens Underground has produced more than 20 successful annual film festivals, showcasing independent filmmakers from over 25 countries. The move to Columbia continues its legacy of amplifying diverse and underrepresented voices while creating new opportunities for Southern filmmakers and audiences.

“Queens Underground has always been about amplifying unheard voices,” said Dr. Adrienne Whaley, Executive Director. “This festival is not just entertainment — it’s a platform for independent artists to share their unique stories with new audiences while connecting through culture, history, and community.”
The two-day festival will feature:
- Screenings of over 40 independent projects across genres including Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Animation, Horror, Historical Reenactments, Poetry, and Music Videos
- Independent films and documentaries representing more than 15 countries
- A Red Carpet Experience encouraging attendees to dress up, network, and capture glamorous moments
- A two-part Industry Virtual Panel Series featuring national professionals (details forthcoming)
- An Awards Presentation on Saturday evening, followed by networking at the Hilton Hotel across the street

Ticket Policy
- Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are required for both the film festival and museum entry.
- The event is for ages 18 and older only.
- No money can exchange hands onsite at the museum.
