(Columbia, SC) – January 18 – State Representative Spencer Wetmore (D-Charleston) will deliver the Democratic response to Gov. Henry McMaster’s State of the State address on Wednesday night.

“It’s an honor to be selected to deliver the response to Governor McMaster’s State of the State address,” Wetmore said. “Our policies under the Governor’s leadership have relied too much on fear and division. It’s time we take action for the working families of South Carolina instead of paying lip service to extremist politics. I am looking forward to outlining a different vision for South Carolina on Wednesday night.”

Rep. Wetmore’s remarks will air live on SCETV directly following Gov. McMaster’s address.

Spencer Wetmore was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in a special election in August of 2020. An attorney, Wetmore resides in Folly Beach with her husband and daughters and previously served as Folly Beach City Administrator and prosecutor for the Charleston County Solicitor’s Office. In her first term as a legislator, Wetmore passed a bill that was signed into law cleaning derelict and abandoned boats from our waterways, a remarkable achievement for a freshman lawmaker.
