Richland County Councilman invites the community to the first annual Decker Boulevard Block Party

Richland Councilman Jim Manning invites the community to the first annual Decker Boulevard Block Party Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 2744 Decker Boulevard behind the Staples’ Building.

Decker Boulevard is Richland County’s own International Corridor and within the last decade the corridor has truly embraced its international flare. Earlier this year, Councilman Jim Manning along with the Richland County Neighborhood Improvement Program and the Cultural Council fostered the production of a mural that has helped further establish the identity of the international corridor.

“This is just like the cover on the front of a book,” Manning said. “It tells the story, as you drive on to the corridor, that there is something big—in an international way—about where you are.”

The Block Party will celebrate the completion of the mural and all of the cultures that call Decker Boulevard home. Businesses located on Decker will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services as vendors for the event. The Block Party will also host a DJ, face painting and a balloon exhibition; creating a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family.
