Richland County to hold an informational meeting on a Disparity Study

Richland County, SC and Griffin and Strong, PC invites the community and stakeholders to an Informational Meeting to inform of the 2024 Disparity Study on Thursday, September 07, 2023, from 3:00 pm4:30 pm, Eastern Standard Time (EST). The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. Advance registration is required.

Stakeholders include:

  • The Richland County, SC community
  • Firms currently doing business with Richland County
  • Firms interested in doing business with Richland County

Richland County, SC, has contracted with Griffin & Strong, PC, to conduct the 2024 Disparity Study to determine whether a disparity exists between the percentage of available Minority and Women Owned firms within the market area and the percentage of these firms utilized by the County in its procurement process. The firm is a recognized leader in disparity research. Two local Columbia consulting firms Comprehensive Business Consultants, LLC and DESA, Inc., will support Griffin & Strong, PC efforts to conduct the study.

The meeting will introduce the Study team, educate the community on what a Disparity Study is and its purpose, provide a presentation on the legal and regulatory standards for the Study, provide information regarding the Study process, and inform how the community can participate in the Study. Attendees will also have an opportunity to provide public comments and ask questions.

Community engagement is critical to the accuracy of Disparity Study findings and subsequent policy recommendations. Local businesses and community members are encouraged to join the Informational Meeting for information, to ask questions, and find ways to participate in the Study.
