(Columbia, SC) — Richland School District Two and LCD, a community development organization, will host Carnaval del Barrio (Neighborhood Carnival) on Saturday, October 4, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Richland Two Institute of Innovation (R2i2), 763 Fashion Drive, Columbia. The event is free and open to the public.
The celebration will feature a parade through the Village at Sandhill, entertainment, food trucks, and cultural exhibits that highlight the rich heritage of Hispanic nations. The parade will culminate on the grounds of R2i2, and festivities will include music, dancing, singing, spoken word and games. Schools and international teachers are collaborating to create engaging displays of artifacts, photos, and cultural treasures that showcase the history and traditions of various nations.
“This event is for everyone,” said Dr. Helen N. Grant, Chief Family and Community Engagement Officer. “Our goal is to provide opportunities for students, families, and community members to celebrate and learn about the vibrant culture and heritage of the Hispanic nations.”
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the day’s activities.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 through October 15.
