Summer break is here, but students across Richland County still have opportunities to keep learning, stay active, and enjoy meaningful experiences while school is out.
Richland School District One is offering its Summer SOAR 2026 programs from June 1 through July 9, with the theme “Rising to Success: Summer SOAR 2026.” The program is designed to help students make the most of the summer months through fun, engaging, and educational activities.
Summer SOAR gives students access to programs in areas such as sports, aerospace, music, visual arts, theater, science, technology, language immersion, and more. District leaders say the goal is to help students avoid the “summer slide” while making learning exciting, active, and hands-on.
Students interested in STEM can also explore camps through the Challenger Learning Center of Richland One, where activities may include robotics, aviation, rocketry, and space mission experiences.
Richland School District Two is also encouraging students to stay academically engaged during the summer through self-paced enrichment opportunities, including Math Nation programs and SAT/ACT preparation resources. These programs are designed to help students strengthen important skills while still enjoying the flexibility of summer break.
Families can also take advantage of free summer activities through the Richland Library system, which offers reading challenges, teen events, story times, crafts, gaming, movies, and other educational programs. Local libraries provide a safe, cool, and welcoming place for students to read, learn, and discover new interests while school is out.
