SC Airports Coalition Partners with USC for 2016 Ultimate Business Expo

(Columbia, SC) The South Carolina Airports Coalition is partnering with the University of South Carolina to host The 2016 Ultimate Business Expo for Small and Minority Contractors and Suppliers on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016.  The event begins at 9:00am and will be held at the Koger Center for the Arts located at 1051 Greene Street, Columbia.

This event will provide small, minority and disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE) with the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with general contractors, purchasing officers, and other business owners in order to build relationships and lay the foundation for future and current business opportunities.  Attendees will be able to sit down for coffee with key decision-makers, participate in match-making sessions, and hear directly from organization leadership including USC President Harris Pastides and Columbia Metropolitan Airport Director, Dan Mann.

In addition to general sessions and networking opportunities, a series of workshop will be held throughout the day.  Topics will include: An overview of upcoming USC Construction Projects, Perfecting Your Elevator Speech, Joint Ventures, The Necessity of Bonding, and DBE and ACDBE Certification.

The South Carolina Airports Coalition includes Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), Charleston International Airport (CHS), and Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE).  The 2016 Ultimate Business Expo marks the first time that the Airports Coalition has partnered with a non-airport entity since its organization in summer 2015 and marks a turning point in the coalition’s continued commitment to supporting small, minority and women owned businesses.

“As a coalition, we’re always on the lookout for opportunities to carry forward our mission to engage DBEs from across the state of South Carolina,” says Chappelle Broome, Director of Human Resources & Diversity for Columbia Metropolitan Airport.  “This partnership with the University of South Carolina presented an ideal way for us to expand our reach into the community and we’re incredibly excited to be participating this year.”

There is no admission fee for The 2016 Ultimate Business Expo, however, registration is requested.
