Southern Prize and State Fellowships for Literary Arts – Deadline Extended to February 12!

Calling all poets! The Southern Prize and State Fellowships for Literary Arts, presented by South Arts, is now accepting applications through February 12, 2025. This prestigious program celebrates and supports the finest literary talent across nine Southern states, offering a total of $80,000 in awards. The 2025 cycle focuses on Poetry, making it an exceptional opportunity for writers in the genre to receive recognition and financial support for their work.

Winners of the State Fellowships will receive $5,000 each, with one recipient from each participating state: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. These fellows will compete for the Southern Prize, with the grand winner receiving $25,000 and a finalist awarded $10,000, along with both prize recipients receiving a two-week residency at The Writer’s Room at the Betsy Hotel in Miami.

The selection process prioritizes artistic excellence, and writers at all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply. Applications require a poetry writing sample, an artist statement, and a resume/CV submitted via SlideRoom.
