South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis has recognized Dowanda Bryant, a dedicated teacher at Hopkins Middle School in Richland One, as the state’s September Educator of the Month. The honor comes through the South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program, an initiative created by Treasurer Loftis to expand access to high-quality financial literacy education across the state.
Bryant, who has built a career committed to student growth and success, brings both professional and personal insight into the classroom. She teaches financial literacy and career readiness with a passion for preparing students to make informed choices about their futures.
In recognizing her achievements, Treasurer Loftis emphasized the importance of financial education in helping students build strong foundations for adulthood. “By teaching lessons on saving, credit, investing, and financial responsibility, educators like Ms. Bryant are giving our young people the tools to succeed,” he said.
