(Columbia, SC) – New Morning, a South Carolina nonprofit working to expand access to affordable reproductive healthcare and contraceptive services statewide, announced a new collaboration with MUSC Health through its Center for Telehealth. Now uninsured women anywhere in South Carolina can access affordable contraceptive services 24/7 through a simple process involving a virtual consultation with an MUSC Health provider.
New Morning’s contraceptive access program branded “No Drama,” has provided in-person and virtual contraceptive services to more than 600,000 women across the state since 2017. Through NoDrama.org – the program’s public education website and portal to care – any uninsured South Carolina woman can have a virtual appointment with an MUSC Health provider regarding contraceptive services day or night and on weekends, at a convenient time of her choosing. The website also allows visitors to compare contraceptive methods, search for a participating clinic nearby, set up an in-person appointment if preferable, and ask questions of No Drama’s patient advocate.
“Around-the-clock, convenient access to contraceptive care for South Carolina’s women across all 46 counties is vital. Patients have asked about it for years, and we’re pleased to work with MUSC’s Center for Telehealth to make it happen,” said New Morning President and CEO Bonnie Kapp. “Since day one, New Morning has been singularly focused on providing all South Carolinians with equitable access to high-quality contraceptive services. In a state rife with healthcare barriers and medical deserts, convenient, accessible and affordable contraception is crucial.”
Underwritten by New Morning, a patient’s first virtual visit with MUSC Health via No Drama is free. Based on her insurance status and income, her three-month supply of the contraceptive method of her choice will be free or low cost. Prescriptions are available the same day through the patient’s local pharmacy or by mail from No Drama’s mail order pharmacy.
