Tameika Isaac Devine Issues Statement Regarding Ethics Allegations

Columbia, SC – For two weeks, Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine has been the focus of false allegations about her ethics, character, and her family. These attacks are by one of her opponents in the race to become the next mayor of Columbia. Councilwoman Devine’s official statement addressing these attacks is below.

“Over the past 2 weeks, I have been attacked in political postcards that have widely distorted facts about my record and questioned my ethics, my family, my character and my love for this city.  Columbians deserve better than smear campaigns, they deserve the truth.

In my 19 years working for the citizens of Columbia, I have NEVER been charged with an ethics violation. It is ironic that these recycled allegations continue to be raised during election time and now when we are on the verge of making history, dark money is being poured into this race to attack me.

While my opponents spend their time and money attacking me, I will continue to attack the problems that face Columbia like recovering from the pandemic, strengthening our small businesses, improving public safety, and advancing equitable growth for all of Columbia.

You have trusted me to serve our great city as Councilwoman and you can trust me to serve you as the first woman Mayor. You can support us by using your voice to vote or volunteer as we prepare to take this historic journey together on Tuesday, November 2nd, Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine said.”
