Just when you thought summer was over, WOW Studio One heats up Columbia with the staging of its highly anticipated stage production, Love Lies, coming to Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College, September 12–14, 2025.
Blending humor, raw emotion, and provocative storytelling, Love Lies is more than a stage play—it’s an urgent and timely conversation about mental health awareness, particularly within the African American community and beyond. Written by Shaniqka Thomas and co-directed with Tangie Beaty, this adults-only (18+) experience promises to entertain, challenge, and spark reflection long after the curtain falls. The play invites audiences to laugh, blush, and reflect while breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
Featuring 11 powerhouse actors, live music, and an unforgettable story arc, Love Lies unfolds in the sultry heat of South Carolina. The narrative follows Camron and Chelsea, once inseparable, now torn apart by silence, secrets, and the haunting return of Camron’s past in the form of Emily King. As devastating truths threaten to unravel everything, audiences are pulled into a suspense-filled exploration of the fine line between love, heartache, and insanity.
