(COLUMBIA, SC) — Columbia Housing, Mungo Construction, and UrbanMatters Development Partners estimates it will break ground in April 2021 on a new community–The Oaks at St. Anna’s Park. The new development is located across from Providence Hospital at Forest Drive and Millwood Avenue in Columbia, SC which is the former Gonzales Gardens public housing site. It will incorporate 285 affordably priced residential rental units in a new mixed income living environment. Mungo Construction is serving as builder for the development.
To encourage diversity participation in the project, a virtual workshop is planned for Women-owned, Minority-owned, Small Business Enterprises (W/M/SBE) via Zoom November 17, 2020 at 12 noon. The link for meeting registration and attendance is https://zoom.us/s/99375690112. |
“In keeping with our long history of employing Women-owned, Minority-owned Small Business Enterprises (W/M/SBE) in our construction projects and developments, Columbia Housing has requested that Mungo Construction set a 30% goal for these businesses in the construction of The Oaks at St. Anna’s Park. That is a $13.5M commitment,” says Columbia Housing CEO Ivory Mathews.
Cindi Herrera, Columbia Housing’s SVP of Development is hoping that Mungo Construction gets great response from Women-owned, Minority-owned Small Business Enterprises (W/M/SBE). “We encourage smaller vendors to team up with larger, more established vendors to maximize their chances of participating in this project. We hope to have a host of inquiries at our virtual workshop on November 17th,” says Herrera
