(Greenville, SC) – With incumbent South Carolina Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman not running for reelection, candidates from a myriad of backgrounds have entered the race to succeed her, giving voters an unprecedented opportunity to select a candidate that speaks to their public education concerns about the broad range of issues that impact South Carolina’s students and educators.
Public Education Partners is offering candidates an opportunity to come together and share their views on educational policies and topics impacting K-12 classrooms, including the increased level of teacher turnover. The Candidate Forum is an opportunity for educators and members of the public to get to know the candidates who are making decisions concerning the future of public education.
On May 23rd, Public Education Partners will host a forum for SC Superintendent of Education candidates from both parties, prior to the June 14 primary election. All candidates who have been certified for the primary have been invited to attend the event and discuss the educational issues that are most pressing to them, and how they intend to address public education in the state of South Carolina. The event will begin with questions provided by Greenville County Schools educators, including members of Greenville County Schools’ Teacher Forum.

The Candidate Forum will take place at Greenville Technical College’s Student Success Center Auditorium, located at 506 S Pleasantburg Dr, Building 102, Greenville, SC on Monday, May 23, 2022, beginning at 4 PM. A private meet-and-greet with special guest educators will follow in the Student Success Center Community Room. Space at the event is limited so registration is required.
